Forbes Diamond 2007

In the last two years Poland has had  the best results since the end of the 90s. Domestic demand was so great that only 6% of companies had problems  finding buyers for their products in 2007( according to the NBP). Polish companies have achieved great results, hired new employees and have been  investing on a large scale. Among them, 'Forbes' in co-operation with business information from Dun & Bradstreet, has chosen three thousand Diamonds.

Consisting of companies which value (calculated on the  assets – income basis) in the years 2005 to 2007 grew by an average of at least 20% per year, that is  at a rate several times faster than the country’s economy.
This method allows to measure the potential of enterprises, taking into account the ongoing investments and the ability to increase sales and profits. Diamond list shows those who used the boom to  increase assets  and income best.

In order to ensure consistency of performance measurement, financial companies were eliminated,  in  case of stock -listed companies capitalisation has been omitted to avoid the impact of market speculation.
Companies were divided into three categories according to the income from  sales in 2007:

• small companies 5-50 million PLN
• medium companies 50-200 million PLN
• large companies over 200 million PLN

P.W. Martrans by Paweł Kado and Jacek Łada received the Forbes Diamond in category         Sales from 5 to 50 million PLN which gave this transport company the 109th position among the 270 companies in the region,  and  998th place out of 3553 companies  in the country.

It should be emphasised that Martrans has become the leading transport company. The company is an example of Wielkopolski  business model, where solidity and tradition are characteristic features.

The company has proven  it can exploit the potential of the region and to expand its activity in the supra-regional scale. The company received a positive rating in reliability, confirmed its viability based on the EBIT and ROA ratings, high current cash flow, no arrears with payments, ability to achieve positive financial results and equity in years 2004 - 2007 (Table no.1). Forbes Diamond confirms its professionalism, innovation and timeliness of services provided by the company.

For the 18th, time the journalists chose Polskapresse publishing group "People of the Year." Among the winners of the poll are those who last year achieved a spectacular success and have made a huge contribution to the development of areas which they deal with. This year's "People of the Year" were selected in five categories: politics, business, government and administration, health, education and social activities, cultural and sporting activities.
